Techopedia Explains Cloud Acceleration

Cloud acceleration works from a cloud managed service platform that provides delivery via a cloud accelerator. An organization that provides a cloud acceleration service has network infrastructure specifically designed to provide high-speed data transfer and routing. Typically, cloud acceleration is achieved through optimizing and fine tuning the Internet-based delivery network for enhanced performance and lower latency.

A cloud acceleration service provider manages all of the traffic that directly originates from a host server to a destination node, thereby handling network performance metrics, such as TCP optimization, quality of service (QoS) and network load management.

A cloud acceleration service is similar to a content delivery network (CDN) but designed specifically for streaming or dynamic content/data.
